Group Therapy

with Wendy Brown, MFT, CGP*

Group therapy helps members improve their communication, and feel more connected to others by focusing on how they interact with each other in the group. This process helps you feel more self-confident.

“I never thought that I could talk about the issues I have with a group and find it so helpful.”

Group member

Here is an overview of what actually goes on in a psychotherapy process group;

  • Group members benefit from talking openly and honestly about their problems in a safe setting. In a process group, when someone talks about what is happening in her life, the group can offer support, understanding and problem-solving.
  • One of the biggest benefits of group is learning to identify how you are feeling in the moment.
  • Group therapy is different from individual therapy in that people have a free-flowing dialogue with others who have similar life issues.

Group therapy allows for increased understanding of others, of your self and how you participate in relationships. This is one of the greatest benefits of group therapy. Therapy groups are the ideal place to explore and understand your relationship patterns. Members learn new relationship skills, often discovering new insights about themselves.

New Poly Group Forming

Announcing a new psychotherapy process group for poly people, starting in March, in San Francisco. This group will be a safe place to expand self-understanding, improve understanding of others, and develop insight into their relationship values and patterns, in an environment where members don’t have to educate people about polyamory.

I have been in private practice in San Francisco for over 20 years. My special interests include identity, relationship, and change issues. I enjoy working with a wide range of individuals and couples, including helping poly couples sort out their varying styles of polyamory, understanding the underpinnings of difficult areas in their relationship and helping couples make polyamory work for them.
